Group Photo – Sgt. Morris Howitz (left) and P/O Sanford S. Soomsky, lifelong friends from Columbus, Ohio, USA, on embarkation leave, August 1942. Note: Morris Howitz later transferrd to the U.S. Army Air Forces, Eighth Air Force, Sixth Fighter Wing and received the rank of Second Lieutenant in March 1943. He was killed on active service at the age of 23 during a training accident at U.S.A.A.F. Station 342, Royal Air Force Station Atcham, Shropshire, England on May 30, 1943.
