  • Grave marker– Marker at the grave of Private John E. Terry MM, formerly of the 58th Battalion, in the Fairview Cemetery, Davidson Avenue North, Listowel, Ontario.  On 26 October 1917, while in action with the 58th Battalion at Passchendaele Ridge, Belgium, Pte Terry received a severe wound to his left forearm.  He was hospitalized in France and then England, and ultimately returned to Canada in February 1918, where he received further care.  On 17 November 1918, he died of illness, diagnosed as tubercular meningitis, at the Whitby Military Hospital in Whitby, Ontario.  He had been awarded the Military Medal ("MM") for bravery in the field.  (Image taken by Gregory J. Barker of Barrie, Ontario, in 2018.)
