Son of Alfred Syvret and Rachel Misson, of Belle Anse, Québec. His brother, Private Charles Syvret, served in Europe during the Second World War, and he survived the war.

David served in Québec, in New Brunswick, in Newfoundland with Force W, in Hong Kong with Force C, in Japan where he died as prisoner of war.

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY Japan

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
