Son of deceased parents, Alfred and Margaret Pelkey; husband of Elizabeth Mary (née Burness) and father of Ronald Earl Pelkey, of Vancouver, British Columbia. Acting Corporal Pelkey enlisted in Regina, Saskatchewan. Acting Corporal Pelkey also served in the 18th Battalion, 2nd Division, Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF), attaining the rank of Private. He served from 1916 to 1919.
