Location:

Denain is a town in the Nord Department between Valenciennes and Cambrai. The DENAIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY is at the north-east corner of the town approximately 1.2 kilometres from the centre, following the route to Oisy and the Lycee A Kastler. The cemetery is situated at the centre of a junction 100 metres from a traffic light controlled crossroads. From the A2, follow the D40 for approximately 2.2 kilometres and turn right at the traffic lights. The CWGC plot is at the heart of the cemetery.

Their grave locations were unknown, however a review of the on-line records of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) shows that Pte. Hambleton was in German Grave 721. This image is a cropped section of the larger lists, as depicted in the other images.

The ICRC had not discovered that Private Hambleton was with the 16th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry.
