Ernest enlisted into the 181st Battn. C.E.F. (Replacement) at Brandon Manitoba on Jan. 29th 1917 he listed his address as Bainville Montana and his occupation as "Farmer"
Ernest died at Vancouver BC on Feb. 3rd 1920 at the age of 26.  He was laid to rest in the Mountain View cemetery of Vancouver BC
