Location:

Etaples is a town about 27 kilometres south of Boulogne. The Etaples Military Cemetery is to the north of the town, on the west side of the road to Boulogne.

  • Photo of Walter John Batchelor– Walter served with the Grenadier Guards before signing up for service overseas. These photos were not dated. His records do not indicate leave to Canada at any point, so I assume this uniform in the casual photo was from the GG. Walter was unmarried, and left behind three sisters, and three brothers, his mother dying in 1914, and his father
dying in 1917. He was the 6th/7th child of Alexander BATCHELOR II, and Adeline MARCOUX. He was the
twin of
my paternal grandmother. Walter was an accountant by trade
