Burial/memorial information
Son of Arthur-Émery « Henri » Bouchard (deceased in 1916) and Sarah Michaud (deceased in 1902-1903). His father remarried to Rosianne Tourangeau in 1904 and died in 1916. As his father was deceased, he named his cousin, Orise Despaties, of Montréal, as next of kin and heiress. He stated being born on 22 January 1896 when he enlisted.
When he arrived in France, Henri Eugène was deployed to the 22nd Battalion, but he never joined this unit. After three weeks in a reinforcement camp, he was transferred to another infantry unit, the 87th Battalion.
