  • War Memorial– Samuel Paxton, aged 16, was living at 2 Murlough Upper, near Newcastle, Co. Down, in 1901, but the family was not there in 1911. A Samuel Thomas Paxton was born in Closkelt, in the Ballyward district in August 1884. A Samuel Paxton (Irish, aged 27) emigrated to Canada in November 1911 on the 'Virginian'. It is very likely that he is the S. Paxton who served with the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles, won the Military Medal, and was KIA on 4th November 1918 (he would have been 34).

  • Newspaper clipping– This clipping id's Samuel differently then in the other clipping. The family may have better knowledge of which brother is which. Since the other clipping is earlier and of a single person it may be correct.
