Cemetery:

BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
Ontario, Canada

Grave Reference:

N/A

Location:

The Books of Remembrance contain the names of Canadians who fought in wars and died either during or after them. All the books are kept in the Memorial Chamber located in the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill, Ottawa, Ontario. Quite aptly named are these testaments to Canada's past, for by their very title they remind us to never forget the foundations of courage on which Canada is built. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is searching to find the graves of these casualties whose names are commemorated within the Canadian Book of Remembrance, but have no known grave location. Those casualties whose graves have not been identified will be commemorated on an appropriate memorial in Canada or the United Kingdom.

  • Other– Veteran's Death Card - Died on pneumonia at the Drumond Military Convalescent Hospital of 2 October 1918.
  • Other– George Walker was born in the UK and was living in the United States when he joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Note that the serial number 13297 is incorrect - that refers to another George Walker. All other details are correct.
  • Circumstances of death registers– Admitted to the Drummond Military Hospital in Montreal on 29 September 1918 suffering from influenza (Spanish Flu) and died on 2 October 1918. We have yet to determine the meaning of the GRAVE NUMBER C-4472. Suppositions are that the "C" is "Canada" or "Cremation". Many records have a similar code but no reference list has been uncovered.
