Son of Archibald Robinson Shewfelt and Rhoda Ann Wallcroft from Louise, Manitoba. Husband of Florence Elfreda May Webster from Gravesend, kent, England. Father of Gordon Archibald and Pauline May Shewfelt.

On 12 May 1919, he sailed from St-Nazaire, France, on board the SS Virginian as a gunner in Battery D, 111th Field Artillery, US Army, service number 3071277, to dock at Newport News, Virginia. He died of pneumonia in Trinidad and was buried there.
