  • Memorial Plaque– Sub-Lieutenant JAMES DOUGLAS HOLDEN  is commemorated on this plaque at Canadian Peacetime Sailors Monument in Point Pleasant Park, Halifax, Nova Scotia.  According to the Shearwater Aviation Museum  Foundation Newsletter Summer 2002, Sub-Lieutenant HOLDEN, Petty Officer 1st Class JOHN EDWARD WHITE, Sub-Lieutenant JOHN ALEXANDER MACLEOD and Sub-Lieutenant ROBERT HENRY JONES died on May 6, 1954 when “Avenger 85832 of 880 Squadron, while flying back from Bermuda to RCNAS Shearwater in formation, dropped out and crashed in the sea approximately 75 miles south of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
