  • Photo of Walter Franklin Parks– PL-14716 - 25 January 1943 - Portrait: Flying Officer Walter Franklin Parks, D.F.C., of Verwood, Sask , who was awarded the Distinguished Flying Gross in January, 1943. He is cited for his "skill and courage, which have been a source of inspiration to all." On a bombing raid on Lille his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and severely damaged, but Flying Officer Parks flew on and successfully attacked his target. He has taken part in many operational sorties since going overseas.
