Before joining the Force, Cst. Brophy had served with the Newcastle Town police for 4 years and prior to that, he held the post of Chief of Police for the village of Blackville for 2 years. Cst. Brophy was shot while responding to a call involving a family dispute. Cst. Brophy was married to Pamela and they had two daughters.

Commemorated on Page 154 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
