Cst. Shwaykowski was the first police officer ever to die in the line of duty in the City of Red Deer. He was killed after being thrown from a moving vehicle while trying to apprehend an armed man. Cst. Shwaykowski was married to Linda and they had 3 children. He is buried in Birchwood Cemetery at Swan River, Manitoba.

Commemorated on Page 152 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
