Sgt. O’Malley was born in Harris, SK. He was posted in 17 different Canadian communities from Herschel Island, YT to Akalvik & Fort Smith, NWT to Rockcliffe, ON and finally to Gillam, MB. While posted in the Arctic, Sgt. O’Malley traveled by dog team and had even traveled 65 miles in one day. Most of his service was spent in Manitoba. Sgt. O’Malley was a weak swimmer. His remains were found five years after his death. Sgt. O’Malley was married to Marjorie and they had three children. He is buried at Depot. Sgt. O’Malley’s only son, Michael, joined the Force.
