Royal Canadian Mounted Police
Cst. Thompson was raised in Gimli, Manitoba and was able to speak Icelandic fluently. He died at Selkirk, Manitoba, of injuries received while on duty on September 26, 1957, when Police Transport was struck by the wheels of a landing aircraft near Lethbridge Airport, Alberta. He is buried in the Cemetery of Gimli.
