Assistant Surgeon Flood served as the traveling surgeon going from post to post and administering medical aid. He loved the rigours of the Arctic life and enjoyed driving dog sled teams. Assistant Surgeon Flood died from exposure while on duty near Fort Churchill, Manitoba. He was the first man engaged as a RNWMP to make the Honour Roll.

Commemorated on Page 31 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
