Location:

The YPRES RESERVOIR CEMETERY is located to the North West of the town. From the station turn left and drive along M.Fochlaan to the roundabout, turn right and go to the next roundabout. Here turn left into M.Haiglaan along for 300 meters and turn right into M.Plumerlaan. The YPRES RESERVOIR CEMETERY is on the right hand side, approx 200 meters along.

  • War Diary– Official War Diary entry for the 123rd Battalion (Canadian Pioneers), pages 12-13.  Pte. Franklin D. McMurdy was among 20 men killed on October 21st, 1917.  The incident is detailed in this diary entry.
  • Honour Roll– Appendix 19 from the 123rd Battalion (Canadian Pioneers) War Diary lists Pte. McMurdy among a group of 20 men killed when a shell struck their group returning to billets on October 21st, 1917.  Based on this list, Pte. McMurdy was killed instantly.  The 21st name on the list was a man who was killed in another incident earlier in the day.
