What is artificial intelligence (AI)?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a fast-changing technology that can help many different areas, including government services. It can be used to make work faster, more efficient, and support new processes.
How is VAC using AI?
At Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), we are using AI to improve our services to Veterans and operations, and support our digital transformation efforts.
VAC uses Microsoft Azure’s AI tools. These help:
- Read PDF documents
- Handwriting recognition
- Pull data from forms
- Sort documents by type
VAC also uses an OpenAI generative language model to help summarize Veterans’ service health records. All tools are used in a secure, contained environment that does not send data outside of VAC systems.
