Sometimes life situations can be challenging. When the challenge is too much to handle independently, guided support services can help you and your family.
About this service
Guided support is an optional service that provides extra support when you need it. You’ll be assigned a Veteran Service Agent to work with you for up to 12 months. They can help identify your needs, access VAC benefits and services, and connect you with community resources.
Do you qualify?
To receive guided support services, you must be living in Canada and:
- be a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces or the RCMP
AND
- need significant assistance to coordinate services to address your needs and have limited support
- or
- have recently completed case management services and need assistance transitioning to self-service
Those who do not qualify:
- Spouses
- Survivors
- Veterans living outside of Canada
How to apply
There is no application form to request guided support services.

Guided support may be helpful if you are:
- having difficulty navigating or completing the steps required to access multiple VAC benefits, services or community resources
- arranging long-term care or accessing significant equipment or home adaptations because of a major decline in your health
- preparing to leave the hospital or require palliative care and need help coordinating the supports and services available to you
- concluding case management services and need support as you transition to managing your VAC benefits and services yourself
- experiencing a major life change, such as moving, that is making it difficult to access the supports you need
