Additional information
Son of Hermas Chartrand and Florestine Monet-dit-Bellehumeur (deceased in 1911), of St-Laurent, Manitoba. His father remarried to Henriette Nabes in 1914 and they moved to The Pas, Manitoba.

He deserted twice, after six and four months of service. He died suddenly of hemorrhage, one week after his third enlistment.

His brother Joseph-Napoléon (service number 291666) died of illness in France whil serving with the Fort Gary Horse, on 27 October 1918.
