Additional information
Baptized Joseph-Gérazime, he simply signed Gérazime. Son of Stanislas Chénier (deceased in 1903) and Célina Sauvé, of Bourget, Ontario and Ste-Scholastique, Deux-Montagnes, Québec. He stated being born on 10 April when he enlisted.

He previously served with the 70th Hull Regiment in Hull (now Gatineau, Quebec). Enlisted in the 41st Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, he arrived in Plymouth, England, on 28 October 1915. He was transferred to the 22nd Battalion on 16 May 1916, which fought in Belgium and arrived in France on the 17th with the 23rd Battalion. He joined his new unit in the front line on 6 June. He was killed in action on 14 July 1916 in the Voorzezeele-Saint-Éloi sector in Belgium.

ELZENWALLE BRASSERIE CEMETERY is located 5 Km south west of Ieper town centre, on the Kemmelseweg, a road connecting Ieper to Kemmel (N331).

From Ieper town centre the Kemmelseweg is reached via the Rijselsestraat, through the Lille Gate (Rijselpoort), and straight on towards Armentieres (N365). 900 m after the crossroads is the right hand turning onto the Kemmelseweg. (Made prominent by a railway level crossing).

The ELZENWALLE BRASSERIE CEMETERY lies 4 Km along the Kemmelseweg on the right hand side of the road.
