Additional information
Son of Léonard Bourbonnais and Joséphine Denis, of Montréal, Québec. On his attestation paper, Bernard is inscribed as his father’s first name, but genealogy research indicate that his father’s first name was Léonard.

He previously served four months with the 65th Regiment, Carabiniers Mont-Royal. He arrived in England on 29 May 29 1915, and on 7 April 1917, in France, he suffered bruises and burns to his left shoulder. From 9 to 12 June 1917, he was posted to the 2nd Canadian Entrenchment Battalion. On 23 August 1917, he was wounded in action in the left leg and buttocks at Petit-Servins during the Battle of Lens, France, on Hill 70 near Cité Saint-Laurent for the capture of Catapult Trench. He died of his wounds on the 24th.

BARLIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY Pas de Calais, France

Barlin is a village about 11 kilometres south-west of Bethune on the D188, between the Bethune-Arras and Bethune-St. Pol roads, about 6.5 kilometres south-east of Bruay. The BARLIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY and EXTENSION lie to the north of the village on the D171 road to Houchin.
