Son of Bertram Sheldon, (Veteran of the First World War, service number 5462, with the 1st Division Canadian Engineers, 2nd Special Service Compagny), and Lilian Milicent Stockley, of Toronto, Ontario. Husband of Helen Louise Riley.
Bertram served with the 10th Basic Training Camp in Kitchener, Ontario, from 11 to 25 July 1941, with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada, Ontario, from 25 July 1941 to 18 October 1941, with the 1st Battalion, Royal Rifles of Canada, from 19 October 1941 until his death in Hong Kong with Force C. He had 168 days of service, including 59 overseas.
