Son of James Hamilton Campbell and Florence Gertrude Angell, of Vancouver, British Columbia.
James Hamilton served in France and was wounded in action on 24 October 1916 during the First World War, while serving with the 47th Battalion, CEF, service number 180966. William Ronald’s brother, Roy James Godfrey Campbell, served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and survived the war.
William Ronald Campbell served in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Prince Edward Island, Alaska, British Columbia, England and in France. He had 1,035 days of service, including 421 overseas.
