Hi, I’m Win the bear. One of the great things about living in a community is that people can help each other. Neighbours give one another a hand in times of need. But Canadian Armed Forces members can help in even bigger ways when serious problems happen.
Bears are pretty strong. What I can do is small compared to what Canadian Armed Forces members can do together. Our military has helped out here at home after wildfires, floods and major storms. They have also come to the rescue when planes crash or ships run into trouble at sea.
They don’t just help neighbours here in Canada, either. They also aid other countries, too. Our Veterans have gone to the United States and the Caribbean to help after hurricanes. They have gone to Nepal and Haiti after earthquakes. And they have protected peace in Rwanda and Cyprus. Can you find all these places on a map? No matter where they were needed, our service members often have been there to do their part!
I know a good way to recognize how Canadian Veterans have supported others! It is to try to be like them in our own small way. There are people who need help in my community. That’s why the Remembrance Club is doing a food drive. Every little bit helps when we work together! How will you be a good neighbour?
