Burial/memorial information
Baptized Joseph-Every Laplante. Son of Cyris Laplante and Obéline Lavoie, of Montréal, Québec. The first names "Every" and "Evry" were in vague at one time but he eventually changed to "Hervé" and signed as such when he enlisted.
Enlisted in the 150th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he was assigned to Company A of the 69th Reserve Battalion on April 5, 1916, and sailed for Great Britain with that unit on the 17th. He arrived in Liverpool, England, on the 27th. On June 28, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion and left for France on the 29th, landing that same day in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais. He took part in the fighting at Zillebeke, Belgium. He was first reported wounded in action at Courcelette, Somme, France, then listed as missing between September 30 and October 3, 1916, during the capture of the Regina Trench. His death was confirmed on September 12 and again on December 19, 1917. His body was never found.
