Baptized Joseph-Louis-Martin Lépine. Son of the late Sophie Forget-dit-Despatis and Louis Chevaudier-dit-Lépine (remarried in 1900 to Marie-Louise Labelle), of Montréal, Québec. Married since 1902 to Amanda Charbonneau, of Montréal, Québec. He had declared to be born in 1878 when he enlisted.

Seriously wounded at the battle of Courcelette, Louis was evacuated to the 2nd Field Ambulance at Hérissart and died there shortly after his admission."
