War Memorial, Merritt and Nicola Valley District, British Columbia. The Cenotaph was unveiled on November 6th, 1921. There are 44 names on three sides of the memorial representing those men who died during World War One. A panel was added at a later date to include 18 names of local men who died in World War Two. Inscribed: IN HONOUR OF THE MEN OF MERRITT AND THE NICOLA VALLEY DISTRICT / OUR WELL BELOVED DEAD WHO DIED THAT WE MIGHT LIVE / GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.
