Cadet Gilbert's grave, located in the Elmvale Presbyterian Cemetery, Queen Street East, Elmvale, Ontario, is marked by a standard Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstone. Near the bottom, a personal inscription reads "AT REST". Cadet Gilbert died of influenza. (Image taken by Gregory J. Barker of Barrie, Ontario, in 2012. Cadet Gilbert is also commemorated on his family's memorial, which stands only a few feet from his grave in the Elmvale Presbyterian Cemetery, Queen Street East, Elmvale, Ontario.
