Burial/memorial information
Enlisted in the 69th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, he left St. John's, New Brunswick, on 17 April 1916 and arrived in Liverpool, England, on the 27th. Transferred to the 22nd Battalion on 5 July, he was wounded in the right knee on 24 July and discharged from medical care on 23 August. Severely wounded by a piece of shrapnel to his right side on 8 November 1917 at the Battle of Passchendaele in Belgium, he was evacuated to Casualty clearing station n° 3 in Grévillers, France. After two weeks, he was transferred to Hospital General n° 26 in Étaples, in the Pas-de-Calais, where he stayed over one month, before he died of his wounds.
