Additional citations

Military Medal, No. 3225 Supplement to the London Gazette, 13 March 1918. Excellent and determined work on August 16th to August 20th 1917. On August 19th, after his platoon officers and NCO's had become casualties, he took charge of the platoon and held a detached point in advance of our front line, and although heavily shelled by the enemy, and suffering numerous casualties, he held his ground for 48 hours until relieved.

Cpl. Rodger's cheerfulness, and skill in placing his men, was alone responsible for the advance post being held, as his actions inspired his men, and was a splendid example to them"

Bar: This NCO displayed great coolness and determination in the attack on Passchendale Ridge on November 6th., leading a platoon of reinforcements from the support to the forward area. Four hours after zero, he showed great resourcefulness in leading his men over open country under most terrific artillery fire and a direct machine-gun fire.

Upon arriving at his destination, he quickly sized up the situation, made his dispositions, and his conduct throughout the remainder of the tour was magnificent and an example to all ranks.
