Private Harold Pepper
My Grandmother (Dorothy Violet Pepper...married name Potts) has circled Harold Pepper (middle of pic). We don't know who the other men are standing on either side of him. The picture has "Post Card" stamped on the back. The story that has been handed down from generation to generation is that he was in the 1914 - 1918 War with the Red Cross and that he died of his wounds rescuing men. It was also noted that his mother was given the Victoria Cross, although we can find no reference anywhere to substantiate this so we imagine it was some other medal that she must have been given.
