Bracebridge Gazette 14-Nov-1918 Pittsburgh's Prof. John A. Brashear, self-taught astronomer, telescope inventor and philanthropist, hosted Sydney G. Hill at his summer residence on Lake Muskoka's Urania Island. Brashear's favourite quote: "I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night."

Astronomy clubs in a perimeter around Crest Cemetery were contacted with the story of this young soldier to see if they might set up a telescope over Syd's grave during the rare transit of Mercury on 11 Nov 2019. A Belgian group responded - they operate a private observatory in the Ypres salient and maintain a WW1 replica Mark IV tank for re-enactments / education.

CREST CEMETERY Nord, France
Fontaine-Notre Dame is a large village in the Department of the Nord approximately 3 kilometres south-west of Cambrai on the main road from Cambrai to Bapaume (N30). The CREST CEMETERY is signposted from the N30 in the village and is located on the right hand side of the road towards Raillencourt.
