Burial/memorial information
From the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion on 6 June 1916. He took part in the Battle of the Somme, France. Wounded in action on 30 September 1916, he returned to the front line on 4 October. Reported missing and presumed killed in action the same day at the Battle of Courcelette, France, for the capture of Regina Trench, on 16 July 1917 he was officially declared presumed dead on 4 October 1916. His body was never recovered.
