Baptized Joseph-Pierre-Adélard Collin. Son of Joseph Collin and Mathilde Fichaud. Married to Marianne Trottier in 1911 and father of Noël Collin ; all from Montréal, Québec. He stated being born in 1888 when he enlisted.

Enlisted in the 22nd Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, he landed at Plymouth, England, on 29 May 1915 and at Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais, France, on 15 September. First reported missing between 14 and 18 September 1916, on 23 October he was recognised as having been killed in action at Brickfields during the Battle of Courcelette.
