Picture of Stanley Winther Caws, who is generally recognized as the first Canadian killed in aerial combat. Originally from the Isle of Wight, Caws settled in Canada in the early 1900s following service as a cavalryman in the South African (Boer) War.

The Arras Flying Services Memorial is in the Faubourg-d'Amiens Cemetery, which is in the Boulevard du General de Gaulle in the western part of the town of Arras, near the Citadel, approximately 2 kilometres due west of the railway station.
