Burial/memorial information
Enlisted in the 41st Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he left for Great Britain on October 18, 1915, arriving in Plymouth, England, on the 28th. On June 28, 1916, he was transferred to the 22nd Battalion and on the 29th, he landed in Boulogne, Pas-de-Calais, France. He rejoined his unit, which was fighting at Zillebeke, Belgium, in the Ypres Salient on July 13. He was declared missing in action on October 4, 1916, during the Battle of Courcelette, France. On August 11, 1917, his death was confirmed as having been killed in action on October 4.

His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial. Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens) -
