Burial/memorial information

Additional information
Baptized Joseph-Henri Sanschagrin; please note that his family name changed over time from Palos-Sanschagrin, to Pelosse-dit-Sanschagrin and simply Pelosse.

Son of Olivier Pelosse and Marie-Zoé-Delvina Bérubé, of Cacouna, Bas-St-Laurent, Québec. He tried to enlist with the 22nd Battalion in 1914 but was released after six weeks as “medically unfit”, an expression often used in that battalion as a reason to release underaged recruits.

He stated being born in Cacouna when he enlisted.

His first name is spelled « Henry » in the First World War Book of Remembrance.
