Circumstances of Death Registers
Private Douglas Norman Moir was killed in action in the trenches at Hooge in May 1916. His body was buried in the Maple Copse Cemetery near Hooge, approximately 2.5 miles east of Ypres. During the Battle of Mount Sorrel in June 1916, and is subsequent battles, the original Maple Copse Cemetery was almost entirely obliterated. The cemetery, on the north side of the copse (plantation) was enclosed after the armistice, however few of the original graves could be identified. -
