Son of Ambrose Horace Briand and Alma Kirouac, of Douglastown, Gaspé, Québec. Brother of Horace Briand, who served in Québec, of Carl Briand, who served in Europe, and of Laurette Briand who served in Ontario; they survived the war. Rannie (René) served in Québec, in Newfoundland with Force W, in Hong Kong with Force C. He had 517 days of service, including 57 overseas.

Memorial
Rifleman NARCISSE BOULEY is one of 20 members of the Royal Rifles of Canada, Royal Canadian Infantry Corps who are commemorated on this panel of the Sai Wan Memorial. He was one of 290 Canadian soldiers killed during the defense of Hong Kong, from December 8th to December 25th, 1941. -
Inscription
Dedicatory inscription of the SAI WAN MEMORIAL. This memorial bears the names of more than 2,000 Commonwealth servicemen, including 228 Canadians. -
