Son of Charles Johnson. Husband of Emily Manley of Teighmouth, Devonshire, England.

On 1st July 1918, the Westmoor was en route in ballast from Gibraltar to Buenos Aires, Argentina, when she was torpedoed and sunk by U-91 210 miles (338 km) north-west of Casablanca, Morocco, position 34°10'N/11°27'W. Two sailors lost their lives. The captain was taken prisoner of war.
