This cargo ship converted into a hospital ship was torpedoed on 26 February 1918 by UC-56 10 miles (16 km) west of Lundy Island in the Celtic Sea, United Kingdom, position 51°03'N/05°09'W, while en route to Brest, France, to take on board war wounded. The captain, 94 crew members and 58 passengers lost their lives.
