On 31 August 1918, the Milwaukee was on a voyage from London, England, to Montreal, Quebec, when she was torpedoed and sunk by U-105 260 miles (419 km) south-west of Fastnet, in the North Atlantic, position 47°22'N/12°14'W. Only one person lost his life, Hull.
