Baptized Joseph Alexandre Lucien David. Son of Georges David and Alexandre Pellerin. Husband of Jacqueline Bégin. Father of Michel David and Robert David. Brother of Gérard Guy, Lucienne, and Madeleine.

During the Second World War, with the Régiment de la Chaudière, he fought in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. He was transferred to the 2nd Battalion of the Interim Force from 4 July 1945 to 22 December 1945, then to the 1st Battalion from 22 December 1945 until his departure for Japan on 28 March 1952 with the Royal 22e Régiment, where he landed in South Korea. A member of the 1st Battalion, SP Company, he was killed in action on 19 October 1952 by a shell fired by the Chinese.

"October 19 [1952] was another bad day. Although only 22 bombs fell on the 22nd's positions that day, there was one killed and four wounded in the Pioneer Platoon, and one killed and one wounded in B Company and the Korean Quartermaster Corps." Les Bataillons et le Dépôt du Royal 22e Régiment, page 101.

UNITED NATIONS CEMETERY (BUSAN) South Korea

The United Nations Cemetery is located in Tanggok, a suburb of Busan. The land for the cemetery was granted to the United Nations by the Republic of Korea as a tribute to all those who had laid down their lives in combatting aggression and in upholding peace and freedom. There are 2,267 servicemen buried in the United Nations Memorial Cemetery. Of these 1,538 were Commonwealth soldiers, including 376 Canadians.
