Burial/memorial information
Son of Jean Sévère Désilets and Permana (aka Cécile) Dalpé dit Pariseau of Montreal, Québec. Brother of Antoine, François, Jacques, Marie-Paule, Maria-Paula, Raymonde and Monique. Transferred to the 2nd Battalion of the Royal 22nd Regiment, he left for Japan on May 22, 1952, then for South Korea, where he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, Company B. He was killed in action on August 10, 1952, during a clash with the Chinese. The Canadian brigade stretched between the villages of Paujolgol and Kokanhari-Saemal, and the regiment defended the left flank.
His name was inscribed on the cenotaph of the Korean War Memorial in Meadowvale Cemetery, Brampton, Peel, Ontario, erected in 1997 to commemorate the 516 Canadians killed in action between 25 June 1950 and 27 July 1953, as well as on the Korean War Memorial in downtown Ottawa, Ontario. An identical monument can be found at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Pusan (South Korea).
