Son of Edward and Jean (nee MacDonald) Power of North Sydney, Nova Scotia.
The Monuments to Canadian Fallen that stand in the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan and also in Ottawa list Private Power by two names. One is his own. The other is "Joe Dowey" the made-up name that he sometimes used when on weekend passes and on leave.
Pte Power is commemorated on the Nova Scotia Korea War Memorial with his fellow Nova Scotians who lost their lives in the Korean War. The Memorial is located at Pleasant and Parade Streets in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. It was unveiled and dedicated in a ceremony on 16 August 2003.
Commemorated on the Wall of Remembrance.
