Picture or George Albert Bates before he want off to WW I. Approx. Age : 17. He was my fathers (Albert Henry Bates) oldest brother. He was also the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Bates of Hamilton Ontario. He was killed at the Battle of Vimy Ridge, long before I was born. This image was taken off an old round tin type sapia photo. -
Inscription
His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial. Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens)
