Burial/memorial information
Enlisted in the 57th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he landed in Liverpool, England, on 8 June 1916. Transferred to the 22nd Battalion on 27 August, he arrived in France on the 28th. From 18 to 20 September, he was on loan to the 2nd Canadian Entrenchment Battalion. Initially reported killed in action between 30 September and 4 October 1916, he was recognized as killed in action on 3 October 1916 during the Battle of Courcelette for the capture of Regina Trench.

He gave his life for his country at the tender age of 19 yrs.We must never forget why we enjoy the freedom we have,and the cost in which it was won for us.May we always remember those who fought for us and those who died for us. -
Memorial
His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial. Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens)
